Made In China

Today is day three of the Tucson, Arizona massacre which left six people dead and dozens wounded. The reality of the situation is just fully settling in for most people, especially those for whom it touched most intimately.

Tragedy is typically unexpected and strikes without warning. It blindsides not only its victims, but like a stone tossed into a placid pond, it ripples out and affects every other person whose life is somehow connected to that victim.

At first, we’re paralyzed by the overwhelming sorrow, grappling to cope with the sheer weight of our grief. But as the shock begins to ebb, anger and fear fill in the recesses it leaves behind.

It’s in these recesses that we run the risk of being so caught up in our own emotions that we don’t acknowledge even greater threats waiting in the wings; assessing the moment when we’re at our most vulnerable to attack.

In my opinion, China represents a very real and present danger to our national security at this time. The facts speak volumes. They have been very quiet and unassuming about it. While we here in America were tuning in and dropping out, they were toiling away 20 hours of every day dedicated to either production or education.

They now hold the mortgage on the lives of our countries future generations. Some would argue that our financial obligation to them is the ace in our pocket that will keep us safe. I contend that they’re not so concerned about our debt. Flip over most any appliance in your home, pull apart the inner workings of your car, check the tag on the piece of crap you’re about to buy in the dollar store. MADE IN CHINA, I guarantee it.

They have the money to cover our debt because we gave it to them and the six Casio walkman’s my parent’s purchased within a six month period in the eighties is proof. They can absorb our debt and then some; they’ll just fire up another cylinder at the shit factory that churns out the junk we keep buying and they’ll be good to go.

No, they don’t give a fig about collecting on our balance due, they want to spread their ideology. And they’re watching and waiting as the pumps are primed and we light the fuse ourselves that blows the whole kit and caboodle to Kingdom Come.

All they have to do is partner up with North Korea, another adversary that is seemingly running along, unchecked.

If you were from another planet, dropped into one of the major US cities and all you knew of our country is what you gleaned from network news, with all the political infighting, I venture to say it would be hard to discern who our real enemies are.

I realize that everyone is patting President Obama on the back for his handling of this tragedy in Tucson and I really don’t want to be the party pooper, but I haven’t heard anyone bring it up yet, so I’m just going to throw it out there.

Why isn’t anybody questioning the social and political climate that the Obama Administration has not only allowed to fester, but some might argue, orchestrated from the outset of his term—that his entire ideology appears to be based on---and that has been the catalyst for the divided culture that is pervasive in America today?

As more information is becoming available about the shooter, it’s looking less and less likely that this attack was politically motivated, but rather were the actions of a severely mentally ill individual. I’m satisfied that that is the case in this particular situation, but if we continue down this road of political divide that we’re on, how many more of our mentally ill will be pushed to the point of breaking?
