One Last Call to Sanity!!!

I have been listening to the phone ring for the past 25 minutes, not a big deal unless you know that I am contacting the US Consulate General in Dubai (Press 1 for an American Citizen emergency.) I’ve been living outside the country for the last few months and all I can say as I count down the days to my return home is: GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!

I came to Dubai to teach English with (unrealistic) expectations of a progressive city, consumed by development and ripe for its foray onto the world stage. What I found was a country where the people are completely controlled. The government pays for everything and in exchange, the people forfeit their lives. This is a country where even though you live on a street with a name and there is a number on your building; the government doesn’t allow mail to be sent directly to your door. It must first go through the Post Office, the most inefficient bit of bureaucratic nonsense you could ever imagine.

There at the PO, they open, rifle through and decide on whether or not to forward your mail on to you. There are only two phone companies; both government controlled; both completely sub-par; where you must pre-pay for your minutes. You wait in line 5 hours to have somebody stamp a piece of paper that says you must get 3 more stamps to proceed. (Somewhere the Arabs heard that efficiency begins with a paper-trail…and they believed it.)

The whole region shuts down from 12:00 PM to 6-7PM to, “take a nap”-‘cause it’s hot; even though everyone works in air-conditioning , and the most “sport” they get is chewing the doughy bread served with every meal.

The reason I’m even here is a) I wanted out before the hammer fell down on the obama presidency and b) I was contacted by an inspirational woman who had a vision of what all this $100/barrel oil money could do. Two weeks ago, she was in a tragic car accident that left her brain dead. I went to give my condolences at the hospital while she was still in a coma and much to my surprise, I was ushered into her room (sans mask/protective clothing, etc) only thing they made me don was an abaya and hegab (the traditional Muslim dress and face/head covering.) I was also relieved of my rosary beads prior to entering the room.

I sat at her bed side and said the rosary by counting imaginary beads and keeping track with my fingers.

Every hour there is a call to prayer and yet every time you turn around someones trying to charge you three times what ever it's worth.

The hypocrisy here is stunning and the gulf between the haves and the have not's is vast. In Dubai there has been a great influx of Indians and Pakistanis since the building boom. They came thinking that they could grab a piece of the dream, sort of like the those who went west during the California Gold Rush in America. Unfortunately, the only reason the government even gave them a visa to stay was so that they could be employed as labourers to do the dirty work.

They are unskilled and have not been trained, nor will they ever be. They will not see any part of that dream materialize because they're worked to near death, paid pennies a day and once they've exhausted their use, they are shipped home with nothing more than what they came with. And every foreigner I met wants Obama to win and somehow felt entitled to weigh in on the goings-on in the States.

I actually got into a (just short of) physical confrontation with a co-worker from Canada who told me that both America and our President suck and we're the "reason" that the whole world is in financial turmoil. An Indian friend explained to me that, "your whole country has gone bankrupt because God is punishing you." Punishing us for what, he didn't get a chance to clarify because I immediately tore him a new asshole when I 'explained' to him that if it wasn't for America, both his country and a lot of others wouldn't still exist today.

We've sent a lot of food, a lot of medicine, a lot of money and a lot of aid ALL OVER THE WORLD. And we never asked for anything in return. And it's funny, the whole world hates us but ask anyone from one of these other countries what their dream is and the first thing they'll tell you is it's to go to America. And so now I'm back on the land that I love and I'm even more amazed that anyone fortunate enough to be here has the nerve to put this country down. All these clueless liberals who want to overtax the wealthy to even out the pot.

Let me tell you something; if you're not where you think you should be in life, it ain't because your black(or any other minority group),'cause there are many blacks who've made it. It ain't because you're a woman,'cause we're just as successful as men now. And it ain't because you're handicapped (which I happen to be), because the only real limits you have are the ones you set for yourself. No, the reason why your life is not where you thought it should be is because you're lazy.

See, that's the beauty of this country; you don't have to be born here, you don't even have to speak our language, but the door is open for you to make a better life for yourself.If you work hard and live right, you are rewarded for your efforts with a nice life.

Unless Obama gets in. Then the reverse will hold true. Work hard and the government will take more from you to distribute your wealth to those who didn't want to work at all.

Under his administration, the reward will be reserved for those who've done nothing to earn it. Eventually the hard workers will realize this and decide to coast, as well. And when everybodies kickin' back, collecting their welfare checks and eatin' their government cheese; when all those moron liberals have finally gotten their way, you better decide quick whether you're going to Canada or to Mexico, because America will cease to exist.

The reason America became the most powerful country in the world is because we were working while all the other countries were taking their naps. I fear it will be the end of the road for this great nation if we allow this conniving manipulator to lead us. Well I guess those chickens are finally coming home to roost for Mr. Obama. I've got to laugh when I hear him point out that "people are really being 'unfair' to (him)". I mean, is he kidding us? This guy has been handled with kid gloves wrapped in silk since the day he crawled out of whatever hole he'd been in, and now, just because some Americans are concerned about a few legitimate issues...and are daring to question the great one, he feels he's being "persecuted".

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171 "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all."... Evidently Barak doesn't have quite the conviction of those words that we should expect...no, DEMAND of our president.

I mentioned these pictures that have been making their way around the internet at an increasing pace lately way back in the beginning of my postings (scroll down), but their relevance takes on new meaning in light of certain associations of this clown. Let's just all be honest here...what has this guy even brought to the table except some undefined, constantly shifting vision of "hope"? I've got to second the sentiment of Geraldine Ferraro, if he weren't black, he'd already be history.

Just the fact that it's even rumored that Obama had a friendship with William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn., members of The Weather Underground, A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION, is startling. I mean, this guy could (God help us) very well be our next president. Here's where I know my fellow Americans who continue to support him have simply LOST THEIR MINDS, it ain't just a rumor, folks...Barak's confirmed the relationship. WTF? On top of that, we've got video of his pastor, I'm sorry, his "mentor", trashing this country and everything it stands for. We have documented statements from Obama's mouth where he blatantly puts down his white grandmother (the only person who didn't abandon him).

I've got, what I consider to be, in my opinion, a rather good theory on that. I once dated a guy who was adopted. Some jerk got his mom pregnant, when she notified him about the baby, the guy did a cut and run. Never even laid eyes on his son. The girl moved home with her parents and raised the boy until he was three. She finally decided one day that she couldn't hack it anymore and gave him up for adoption. The boy gets adopted by a large family in Nebraska who raise him into adulthood.

To me, it seemed, they provided every luxury of life for him. Even if they didn't...they took an orphan in, gave him food, gave him shelter...gave him a name. The boy hates these people. He left their home at 18 and has never gone back. He eventually found his birth mother when they both went looking for each other that same year and they have a casual relationship, but he has never found his real father.

His "father" has never come looking for him and it's funny, it's his birth father that he places on the pedestal. To him, his birth father is the one who is above reproach, the one with no culpability in the whole thing. Here's my thinking on it. His birth father rejected him from the start, so that was the love he needed the most. He couldn't understand why his "father" would not want him, so my ex built up this God-like myth of a man to represent his "father". It was easier for him to endure the belief that he wasn't good enough to be embraced by a God, rather than just a man. And since he never met the guy, he's never had to dispel that notion.

His birth mother accepted him for a while, then rejected him, so when they finally met up, he was more angry than awed. There was a lot of, 'why wasn't I good enough for you', resentment. I think, because of that, he saw his mother as a human being. A flesh and blood person capable of mistakes and although he desired her love and acceptance, receiving it, to him, wasn't akin to a fantasy. His adoptive parents chose him. They accepted him, unconditionally, from the word 'go'. He never had to work for their love, it was never something that existed only within the bounds of his imagination. Subsequently, he resented them. Probably as a child (which is what he was when they adopted him), in his child's heart and mind, he blamed them for the loss of his parents.

He never saw them as the people who helped him pick up the pieces, he viewed them as the ones who caused the plate to break. Further more, with Obama, he seems so willing to embrace his African heritage while at the same time, renouncing the 50% of Caucasian blood that courses through him. He's referenced his grandmother's racism. Now, I have a damn hard time accepting that this woman was a racist considering she was the ONLY one willing to take him in and raise him. Where did his paternal grandparents go? You know, the father's parents, the ones who weren't racists?

Listen, this is just how things are, ask any mixed-race person. When you're bi-racial and you're with white people, of course you feel black and when you're with black people, you're considered white. If it was the black grandparents who stuck around and he was brought up in a predominately African atmosphere, trust me, he'd be attending some backwood inbred radical KKK church in the lowlands of Arkansas and we'd be watching video of his pastor giving a sermon with a hood over his head.

And in case you're wondering how I can purport to understand such things; the ex I referenced was biracial. He had a Caucasian mother and a "father" from North Africa. So yes, I'm afraid Geraldine was right, he's survived because he's black. Not to discount the fact that people view him as this Kennedy-like orator. By all accounts, to be fair, he actually is. That is, unless, he is delivering one of his denial or, as I like to call them, his 'tempering the fury' speeches (which he's been giving at an alarmingly increasing rate lately). In the case of his mollification speeches, if you watch with unbiased eyes, he stutters and stammers and pauses and vacillates.

Granted, he is trying to defend the indefensible, but that's even more of a reason why he's got no business being where he is. I mean, let's even go back to the lapel flag thing. Barak explained that he hasn't worn the flag lapel in "a very long time". He's said, "I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest. I haven’t probably worn that pin in a very long time. I wore it right after 9/11. But after a while, you start noticing people wearing a lapel pin, but not acting very patriotic.

Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for, I think, true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security. Instead I’m gonna’ try to tell the American people what I believe what will make this country great and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”

Huh? Sounds like a bunch of bullshit rhetoric to me. The truth of it is that Barak is part of the radical left. These are the people that truly despise America, somewhere inside them they think America is fundamentally wrong. That they've been done dirty, done in or done out, somehow ill served by this country. They want retribution for some indefinable offense committed against them or their kind. You know, all those people who were moving to Canada if Bush got re-elected. Apparently, all of their flights got delayed, because as far as I can tell, none of them left. Maybe they just realized that, even taking into account our flaws, no other country will ever afford them more opportunity, more freedom, (and no here's one for all you Obama girls) more hope than where they are now. How many other countries do people risk their lives crossing oceans on homemade rafts to sneak into? Our new motto should be: America: You don't love it; you're free to leave.

That's about all I wanted to get off my chest, but I'll leave you with this one last thing: I think Obama is the one exploiting the race card. He's trading on his interracial status as an answer to his complete lack of qualification. It's almost like, he thinks if he can redirect the spotlight from competence to inequity, he'll sway enough voters based on political posturing.

He views us as so easily manipulated, so simple and easily lead. He's an elitist who hates 50% of the population he seeks to preside over and truly believes all 100% of us, whether black or white are just a bunch of intellectual greenhorns. As always comments and discussion are encouraged.

Come Down Off That Fence Now, Johnny --Election 08

In a move that reaffirmed a prediction I documented in an earlier post (scroll down if you doubt me), Fox News is now reporting: Former Sen. John Edwards, in his first public speech since dropping his White House bid two months ago, praised Democratic rivals Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama on Saturday, but declined to endorse either candidate. I said it before; he will ride the fence until he knows which way this is going to go.

He’s been cultivating this “elder statesman” image of late, fashioning himself after Al Gore. Best definition I can think of for what qualifies you as a democratic “elder Statesman” is this: a failed Presidential bid of your own. The thing that Edward’s fails to realize is that his endorsement may actually go a long way in swaying voters. His support, I believe will have more impact now, in light of the generally unflattering relationships of Obama’s that have come to the forefront.

Polls are showing that Obama has been hurt by certain associations. Middle America is most of the country, they still hold certain values and they’re certainly not along the lines of “God damn America.” His lack of experience during war and tough economic times are also issues that cannot be overlooked. Nor can they be compensated for with flowery speeches touting hope and revolution that appeal primarily to aging baby boomers and today’s youth.

These new revelations that have come out about Senator Obama have slowed his meteoric rise because they've finally caused a break in the momentum, created a moment for people to stop, step back and ask, “Who is this man? What has he done that qualifies him and what do we really know about him, anyway?” To which the answers, if we're being honest, have to be: “Who knows?” to the first question, and “Nothing much” to the final two. Hardly rousing endorsements. But Edwards wants the Vice Presidency so bad, he’s unwilling to commit, for fear his words won’t carry enough weight and he’ll endorse himself right out of a job.

The Fox article goes on to quote the former Presidential candidate as saying, “I have a very high opinion of both of them,” Edwards said at the Young Democrats of North Carolina convention. “We would be blessed as a nation to have either one of them as president.” If that’s not sitting on the fence, I don’t know what is. The story concluded by saying: Pressed by reporters to detail any endorsement plans, Edwards declined to say if he would even endorse a candidate before North Carolina’s May 6 primary.

Regardless of an Edwards endorsement, Senator Obama tends to feel that he’ll have the whole thing sewn up by June anyway, well in advance of the August convention, thanks to the superdelegates. Today, he aligned himself with Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean in calling for uncommitted superdelegates to endorse a candidate soon after the final June 3 primaries in order to wrap up the race. Clinton, on the other hand, isn’t giving up. She’s arguing that the candidates owe it to voters to keep the campaign going.

Senator Obama is leading Clinton by 157 pledged delegates, but it’s still statistically impossible for either candidate to gain enough pledged delegates to lock down the nomination. That’s why he’s calling on all uncommitted delegates to endorse a candidate soon after the June 3rd primaries in order to wrap up the race. Obama is so cock-sure that he can’t lose and the numbers coming in after his most recent scandal do nothing to dispel the image he’s developed of political invincibility.

I just don’t think the democrats should get too comfortable with him; I’ve got a feeling this Jeremiah White thing is just the tip of the iceberg. What I do think is that if Edwards really wants to have a role in this election, he better get off the fence and help shape it. He needs to throw his support to Hillary because I just don’t know if Senator Obama’s personal life/ties/beliefs are going to hold up real well under scrutiny.
